vdB 131 + 132

#1

Post by dcrowson »

I’ve imaged this field several times and it is very popular for shorter focal lengths. My recent refractor image can be found here - https://www.flickr.com/photos/dcrowson/53227423953. I decided to highlight the vdB nebulae using my longer focal length telescope:

NGC 6914 is the M78-like nebula complex near the top center. This one includes vdB 132 near the center of the image.

vdB 131 is the blue reflection nebula below vdB 132. This one surrounds a star in open cluster Dolidze 8.

GN 20.22.7 (Parsamian 22) might be the most interesting nebula in the field. This is the brown one near the bottom center.

See the annotated image for the locations of these and other objects.

Luminance – 24x600s – 240 minutes – binned 1x1
RGB – 8x300s – 40 minutes each – binned 2x2

360 minutes total exposure – 6 hours

Imaged October 5th, 6th and 7th, 2023 from Dark Sky New Mexico at Rancho Hidalgo (Animas, New Mexico) with a SBIG STF-8300M on an Astro-Tech AT12RCT at f/8 2432mm.
