nice sketch, i've imaged the sun before with sun spots and photosphere granules, but i've never looked at it with any detail , it will be on my bucket list now.

Hello Willis. AR means active region. Although things are kind of sparse right now on the sun's surface facing us, I think that you will find this link very helpful for further identification, at:

Better understanding now, but let's say I'm imaging a certain part of the sun. What software/process would I use to identify the location that was imaged? Maybe this is at the website you referenced but a quick look has not answered this question. I may just need to spend more time on the site.

I find the site I linked to below usually has all the info you need.
For now the sun is clear so there is minimal information displayed.
Check the left hand column, you will see a graphic of the sun and any relevant AR info below that.
