When it comes to sketching itself, 2H, HB, 3B, blending stump, sharply cut eraser, a pigeon's feather* and fingers are the main tools for me. I saw my father do it when I was a kid. Some things are computer finished: the black background, the nice whiteness of the Moons, the deep darkness of the shadow and I also made the Northern Tropical Zone a bit whiter with the computer.
* The pigeons feather is used to wipe away eraser crumbs, without further erasing.
