Guilty as charged! I need to get that done. I have a Jason 313 60mm refractor; Sears 4454 80mm refractor; Celestron 152mm vx6 refractor, meade 8” LX and a meade 12” LX. I plan to use these eyepieces in all(I have a .965 to 1.25 diagonal for the smaller refractors).

I decided to take the plunge after reading through several more articles and bought the set of Morpheus eyepieces. I have an old University Optics 2” Eyepiece I bought new about 30yrs ago and it works pretty well in my 8” LX. I’ve kept it all these years. Due to work I was not as active but finally have some time to get back into it and I’m in a better place financially now. It can def get expensive; can’t disagree; after this I’m going to be a bit more selective but I really liked what I seen overall and read overall. I should have them shortly and will report out after I get a chance to use them. We are finally warming up enough to tolerate being outside for awhile. With this COVID virus I have been home like most others so this will give me something to do. Actually it’s given me the excuse to get out and spend some time observing.

This February, we have had a small shoot-out of the Morpheus EPs against my Pentax XW, and the Morphei have been within the 65°AFOV close to the Pentax, so far I can remember.
With their 77°larger AFOV they will be pretty much interesting for the long focus telescopes.

Appreciate everyone’s comments; Buying any type of accessory always seems to be a daunting task but more so with eyepieces due to the sheer number of them available. I will say that they have come a long way in the 40 years I have been into this hobby. I’m hoping these Morpheus eyepieces will be a good base set across my different scopes. I plan to try some different ones and will likely pick up some others individually to see how I like them. Once we get past this virus issue I’m hoping to get to a star party so I could possibly look through some others to compare. In the meantime I appreciate the experiences everyone is sharing as this is real life actual use.

I just received my Set of Morpheus eyepieces. Definitely anxious to try them out. Of course skies are overcast for the next couple of days. I want to try them in my Meades as well as my VX6 refractor just to see how well the views are and if they favor the refractor over the Schmidt-Cass. I will post my opinion of their performance after I do.

I was trying to figure out who made the VX6 refractor... after searching I discovered it is a C6-R.
I wonder why stores are listing it under the mount name now?

Anyway the Morpheus eyepieces will work well in it.

I succumbed to the temptation and ordered the 4.5mm Morpheus to add to my growing collection, should be here in a couple of days as will more cloud cover.

Yes; it is basically a C6R. I’m not as familar with the C6R but not sure why they used the VX6 name now? You have me curious now so I will investigate. If I find out anything worthwhile I’ll post out. Optically I think it is essentially the same. Beautiful scope though; my first telescope was a small 50mm refractor from Kmart and I guess I’m a little partial to them. I do like my Schmidt-Cass scopes too. Different purposes, large aperture and portability. I purchased my 2080 lx3 brand new 32yrs and it still delivers. Really excited to try these eyepieces out. Now, if the skies would clear.......

Sounds great Ivan(the eyepiece not the cloud cover, lol). When your opportunity finally arises I would like to hear your impressions on it. 2 things motivated me to get these; the overall impressions I read and they were on sale. For the current price they seem yo be a tremendous bargain. I have to say this forum has really rekindled the motivation for observing and all things Astronomical. Thanks for allowing me to share my experiences and also answering questions. This is what makes any hobby great. Until we can get past this virus issue please stay safe.

Most likely just marketing, VX6 sounds much more impressive than C6-R

Just got the Morpheus 4.5mm this afternoon and conditions look good for tonight, so hopefully will get a chance to try it out.

How good is the atmosphere in your location? With your telescopes a 4.5 mm eyepiece must give very high to enormous magnifications. You are somewhere in the Blue Mountains, right?

Hi Ruud,yes I'm near Katoomba in the Blue mountains. I will use the 4.5mm mainly in the smaller scopes. I regularly use over 400x with the 180 Mak and the 3-6mm zoom is usually used in the ED80 and LS100 so seeing can support the magnification regularly.

Finally; I got a chance to try my 17.5mm Morpheus. At my cabins in northern michigan, we had a decent night(at least for a short period) for me to observe. I just picked up a mid 70’s Celestron C8 orange tube in mint condition so that was my scope for this weekend. It came with all the original volcano top eyepieces as well as a couple others. I used the Celestron 40mm eyepiece first and just took a look off the handle of Ursa Major. The 40mm performed well, just checked against a general star field first. I then slipped in my 17.5mm Morpheus and wow; Although the eyepiece focal length was apple to orange comparison the field of view was dramatically better with the Morpheus as expected. I did notice the eye relief could be a little tricky but once I figured it out I was comfortable with it. I aimed it the moon and the Morpheus again was impressive. Clear, sharp image and depth. Unfortunately, before I could do anything else the clouds rolled in. Now I’m anxious to get back out especially on a moonless night.

Congrats on the first light Alpena! 18-20mm EPs are the most used in my C8, so 17.5mm should be good match for yours.

I posted over in another thread but I just bought a 9mm Morpheus for use with my Celesctron 925 CPC SCT

Just love it in the small amount of use I had last night. Really nice FOV and very comfortable to use.

My plan is to sell my Hyperion 17mm and tuning rings & Luninus 19mm and buy the Morpheus 17.5 which I have read great things about.

Good choice, the 17.5mm is a very good eyepiece.
