IC 417 & NGC 1931, more often referred to as the spider and the fly nebulae, are neighboring nebulae found in the constellation of Auriga. IC 417 is an emission nebula while NGC 1931 is both an emission and reflection nebula. Located at a distance of 10,000 and 7,000 light years respectively, both are stellar nurseries containing young open star clusters near their centers. I experimented with a Nexus 0.75x reducer which brought the native f/4 of my ES Newt down to 2.9. This image comprises 12.7 hrs of integration using both an L-enhance and IDAS NBZ filters which were chosen to leverage their better transmission characteristics (80-90%) with fast optics. Final processing included NB normalization using the HSO mode.
