I was on the phone with Celestron Tech support today talking about how to use the handset and Sky Portal to slew the Telescope using the mount motors BUT without aligning the Telescope first. She gave me the answers and If you are interested let me knoe and I'll tell you. She also sent me a link called Astronomy Tools which I apologize if you already know about it. It's such an excellent site for simulating how the FOV will look for a specific Deep Space or Solar System objects based on your exact equipment (Telescope and Eyepieces) that you tell it.

It also has several Astronomy Calculators, Star Charts, a Coordinate lookup tool and other links.

The FOV tool is really cool as the site has an extensive data base of actual Telescopes and Eyepieces and objects to simulate the FOV based on the Telescope and particular eyepieces you select. You can add several eyepieces to the simulation and it will show you the FOV and Magnification of all of them simultaneously via color coded FOV circles.

Here is the link: https://astronomy.tools/calculators/field_of_view/

Very cool. I tried both a 102mm scope and a 254mm scope on messier 1 and 13.

Telescopius also is another interesting tool for planning and simulating DSO observing.

If you go to the Forum under miscellaneous called links, links, and more links, you will see this site is already listed. But thank you for pointing it out again because it is an important site and one I use all the time.

Cheers,
