A Winter moment

We are heaving wet winter and between the flu and rain I was not able to observe for awhile.

Yesterday, I have returned home from work around 8 pm, stepped out of the car and realized that the sky is clear. The first thing I have noticed was the smiling Moon just about three degrees away from Jupiter. To the East and above was Orion in all it's magnificence with the loyal Dog at his kneens. Gemini were sitting a bit father east above the house.

Just a brief but uplifting winter moment.

Very nice, Andrey. I seem to be having more of the "short sessions" these days.

Keep on truckin!

It's great to have those awe inspiring naked eye views. Kind of brings back the sense of wonder like when we were kids.

Clear skies here a couple evenings have me fighting with the terran moon to see those dancing Galilean moons of Jupiter.
Tonight is SUPER WINDY, nearly blowmedown with my little c90....
But it's too good to see more night sky after today's cloudy.
That wind is the cold front coming after a couple days of not so cold...so it's cold fingers tonight too lol!

Very nice indeed Andrey. Sorry to hear about you having the flu. Watching the weather as I do, I knew you were having some problems out your way. But, sometimes, for all we do in terms of observing under normal conditions, it can be those little unexpected moments that inspire us even more. As has been pointed out, the childhood simplicity of wonder, and the soothing of the soul by such views. I too saw the moon and Jupiter together. I had stepped out on the front porch, blasted by a cold wind, and for a moment, that view caught my eye. It stuck with me for the evening because it was unexpected, simple and moving.

Nice to share Moon passing Jupiter with friends here! Tonight the Moon will swing by Pleiades. Forecast here calls for cloudy skies, but I am hoping for some sucker holes. :D

Had another awe moment. Yesterday we had a rain but when I came home and look up I saw again Jupiter to the right, Orion in the middle and Moon to the left, but this time each of them were perfectly framed with wide strokes of white cirrus clouds, simply beautiful!
