Under the Limelight..

#1

Post by StarHugger »

In my quest of tinkering simple ultra cheap colour and basic astronomy filters into filter stacks capable of isolating Calcium h, Sodium d and H-beta with a solar wedge and with some success I have decided to next try for a cheap magnesium solar secondary filter.

And since a deep dive into the properties and uses of magnesium is now fully underway and in turn interesting information has already been tabled, like the meaning of the term Under the Limelight and the dangerous lives of those early photographers first iluminating the shafts deep within the great pyramids in modern times...

Anyways a fun little read I thought to share about photography, the Sun and magnesium.

Have an awesome day Everyone!

That's an interesting read. Magnesium is fun stuff to use as a flash.

I look forward Aaron to seeing what you do with it as a solar filter.

It came to me last night while studying and I assembled and lamp tested a prototype this am.

And imaged with it as the Sun rose just after...

The colour of the Limelight, for those of us too young to have experienced it in theatres, I included a frequency colour sample as well.

That really brings the solar details out into the limelight!
