We are posting the following information. Since it's a medical procedure that many of us have either gone through or probably will in the future, we felt we should share.
As with all medical procedures, please discuss this with your doctor. The information provided is based on the author's opinion and not that of TSS.

THANKS for this. There also was an article in Sky and Telescope some years ago about this. I thought I saved it but can't find it now. If someone has it, it would be great to have a copy.
I've had to hold off on buying my 8" Nexstar until after the Cataract surgery I just found out I need but this doctor re-affirmed for me that the more expensive newer 'focusing' Cataract lens replacements can be bad for Astronomy as they often can have bright streaks and halos around bright objects. If it wasn't for this fine board I would never have realized I had cataracts so cloudy I need the surgery. Thanks!

I will have to agree with your doctor. I had them done a dozen years ago and all is still fine. I told the Doc distance vision!! I golf too and want to see that ball go in the cup from the tee, no luck on that yet, but astro vision is super, I can see blue now.
Good Luck,
Steve
