I am refurbishing an Edmund Medium duty mount that was probably produced in the late 70's to early 80's. I have attached pictures of the mount. Looking for information on how to use it and where I might be able to locate a replacement motor, Does anyone out there have and use one of these mounts?

A nice pier mount!
Does the manual state what the tooth count is on the different axis?
That would help greatly but in the meantime you could look at OneStep or Avalon for replacement tracking motors or even goto.
There are couple other retailers but I cannot think of them at the moment.

Hello Rick

That telescope is a thing of beauty!

There are a number of suppliers that sell various retrofit telescope mount motor drives but a non generic replacement for your Edmund would be difficult to find.

As for using it you will need to set its latitude and polar align it first. Let us know your level of experience with these and with setting circles, right ascension and declination.

Regards

Graeme

Thanks for the replies! The manual I posted is a picture that I was able to find on the internet. I would love to locate or find a copy of it. I wish I had the red scope to go with it but I just have the mount right now. Next project!
The brass gear inside has 96 teeth and the motor is 120V 1/15 RPM and rated at 5 W.
In terms of experience level, I am pretty comfortable with this stuff, just not this mount yet. The declination and RA rings are in perfect shape and move freely. There are no markings for setting latitude that I can see. Guess that has to be done by eye.
I have attached a pic of the actual mount that I have (counter weights removed while I'm working on it.) Mount is in perfect shape other than the motor. Thanks for your help everyone.

Those are some oddball numbers.
There is a company in Germany that custom makes mount motors, I will see if I can find them.
Since Edmund is still around you could send a email or call, they may still have information on who supplied the motors
and possible have a manual in their archive.

There is also Astro-Gadget from Ukraine
