EQ5 Pro Cables!

#1

Post by johnyjf »

My small portable mount is an EQ5 Pro, a fairly recent acquisition. One of the obvious traits is the stiffness of all the cables. Is it really necessary for them to be this stiff and is there a supplier of a more flexible alternative?

I have an EQ5 (not pro) and use it as a mobile rig for imaging. Not sure if your referring to the SW mount cables or USB cables in general but if the truth be known, the cables have little impact on the mount. Cable management is more important though to prevent fouling. The EQ5 Pro can handle quite a bit of weight so IMO it's not a problem.

The cables are fairly stiff though the connections are more robust than the older telephone line cables and connectors they used to use.
You could email FLO and ask if they know of any aftermarket cables. I cannot think of anyone that does for these.
Some nice refractors, eyepieces, mounts and related equipment

OK thanks for your responses. I will try FLO. Was just a little puzzled that they needed to be so heavy duty though I suppose that is better than too light at build. Also sorry about the late response, has been a little sickness in the family.
