hi

I am practicing guiding i have took my dark files and then when i press loop it comes up with error message saying" calibration this far from the celestial equator will be error prone. for best results, calibrate at a declination of -20 to +20". I'm not sue how to do it can someone explain to me how in a easy friendly way of what to change and where.

Thanks Guys

Rhoda

The message just means that you will get the best calibration at near the intersection of the celestial equator and meridian.
Slew the scope to a star close to that area start the calibration from there.

The first time you run PHD it goes through a calibration. This checks the backlash etc of your mount. You need to point the mount a long way from polaris for this to be effective. Once PHD has got the parameters, it saves them and next time it will start guiding straight away.
Jim is 100% right, but if you change anything in your mount / guidescope optics, you will have to go through the calibration procedure again.
First time is never easy with software and I hope that helps.

The "sticky" posts at the top of each forum (that has them) provide info that is supposed to answer commonly asked questions so you don't have to wait around for the answer. Here is just such a sticky from this forum. It may be best to redo your calibration based on the suggestions from the attached post.
