Would this be a good beginner binocular

I've been considering getting binoculars, mostly just to randomly check out the night sky. I'm not looking to spend a lot because I'm more interested in AP and want to put my money into that. Anyway, would these be worth it?

If you are looking for hand held, 12x60 will be hard to hold steady.

I would suggest to go with 10x50 instead. Nikon and Pentax have good following. I have Nikon Action EX and they are great performers. I have a pair of older Orion 10x50, they are as good.

Thank you. I will look into them as well. I am looking for something hand held, just something for a quick grab and view.

I agree, the 10x50 are a good size and can easily be hand held.
Even a cheaper set like Celestron Calvary 10x50 will do a good job.

Surprisingly the best view of the Pleiades I have ever had was with the Celestron Calvary.

I have a pair of Olympus DPS-1 10x50 and I can manage to hold them steady - for short periods at a time though :?

They are excellent quality too and weren't really expensive.

I ordered these today as just a place to start. Thanks Lady Fraktor for the suggestion. And I am keeping in mind the other suggestions as well. Thank you all. If I don't like these then I'll try different ones. They were cheap enough that it's not a big deal but I have to start somewhere. Anyway, here's the link...

Whether you know it or not, these binos will be your most often used Optical device. You will enjoy them.

The binoculars arrived today along with the rain. I'm looking forward to trying them out.
