My guiding flatlined!

I often wondered what great seeing looked like. Well, the clear sky chart is forecasting "dark blue" seeing after midnight tonight. I think we are there already! My guiding is staying under 0.7" RMS, with frequent forays lower. I have never seen 0.50" RMS before!

It doesn't mean much to me, but it's good I guess.

Nice numbers Kathy. If that was an EKG your patient wouldn't be breathing.

Cheers

That is awesome Kathy!

Seeing sure has a phenomenal impact on guiding. My seeing is always fair-poor. That is why I try to stay at a higher image scale. It is very forgiving.

I read the topic title and thought I was going to hear that you were guiding on a hot pixel. I'm glad to find out you were reporting good news, not bad!

Hmm I was able to get 0.7" total RMS on a fairly regular basis with my 12" on a G11S/OnStep after adding 1:3 timing belts. Other Losmandy users are boasting about reaching 0.25", which made me wonder what I'm doing wrong. Maybe they weren't running a 12" or maybe that was with better seeing. Thanks for reporting some real numbers, it's a good reality check.

First night out last night with the new mount. I've finally given up on the CGX and bought an iOptron CEM70EC.
Guidescope is a 400mm fl Astromania and the guide camera is the ZWO290mm.
I'm pretty stoked with these numbers as the CGX on a good night rarely got below .60"
