Fluid head for baby Mak?

A nice thing about my 90mm Mak is it's very light weight. It rides well on my friction pan head, but manual slo-mo difficult - hard to avoid jerking the thing when panning to follow the moon.

Wondering if getting a fluid head would be worth a try. A fluid head on my Benro tripod would be super light weight and even more portable than my AZ5 plus I could use it for my binos. I think there was some discussion related to this, but I can't find the thread now. Thoughts?

I have been using this one for years as my travel telescope head, I have not had any complaints using it.

That looks like a real decent head.

I also have been looking for a good one for my 90mm Mak and ST80.

Thanks 😊

I have used it with my old C90 up to a Celestron 102mm f/6.5.
When travelling I use it with my Stellarvue 80mm.
Here is a image of it loaded with my SV, 2" Herschel wedge and binoviewers.
Definitely well overloaded but still does a decent job for solar viewing.
(I use the long bar for easy of moving the heavier weight of this setup, the normal bar works fine).
It would work well with your C90 or ST80.

Holly Carp! 😆 😂
That's awesome 👍

I have an Orion Paragon XHD which is such a nice tripod.
The included head has served me well, but have always wanted to upgrade.

I use it for travel with the C90 and ST-80.
Now it is in full time use with the PST.

I specifically bought my Manfrotto 055Pro and the 128RC head for my PST, things went out of hand after that

My ST80 is my usual travel scope, so dual use would be good.
