I think i've sorted out the mirror flop, seems like the clamp ring under ther geared mirror lock may of been a little too big, i cut it down 5 mm where the splice is, the mirror still moves when locked and focusing but it is atleast 2x stiffer then before.

turns out meade dose glue the rear ota and front ota housing on the newer scopes.. good luck getting them off, there's a little cut away on the front end of the ota where you have to turn the mirror while it's inside and walk it out, like a big t-v through a little door.

it turns out the focus plate thats mounted to the mirror was loose aswell, turning the mirror lock would actualy rotate the mirror.. i moved it back to the arrow mark, i assume this is the correct spot ..

i welded a washer on the focuse knob internal screw, i intialy broke of the screw so i drilled it out at work and then broke the tap in it thus making life very hard for me to repair it :( , it's just a end stop it's not too important .

i also got grease on the mirror :(

Please excuse my ignorance, but what are the teeth for?

Good work getting in there! Did you use a circular or square easy out?

I have also found out that the circular ones actually exert a force pushing the [bolt/screw] screw thread out into thread in the screw HOLE..

"turns out meade dose glue ...."

Increasing evidence coming to light that Synya is using sealant to hold corrector plates in place on the Edge series,
you know the Edge series that has the corrector adjusting/centering screws to, you know, adjust/center the corrector plate...

when you turn the focus lock knob on the rear of the ota, it rotates that large disc around the prim mirror tube/inner baffel which is threaded thus squeezing down on that little bevel ring and locking, much like a collet chuck . the focus lock has a small gear cog on it .

i think older meade models just had a bolt much like the focus knob and you just lock it, the ota still has the old hole positon for it, it has a cap in it if i recall .

i just used a drill bit about the same size as the bolt, the bolt is small only 2-3 mm diameter .
