Juha,

Nice!
Don't you park your car in the garage to protect it from the cold and snow?

Joe
It is probably full of astronomy gear Joe

Way too early for snow.

{Back in 1987 by town got about a foot of snow on 10/4. It was gone less than a week later as it was way too early for snow to stay here}

Juha has previously posted pictures showing that he keeps the scope in his living room. At those temperatures, I would too! My 18" scope lives in my shed but if there's going to be a lot of rain, I move it into my studio because water can flow through the shed floor in very heavy rain. If I'm going away, I'll park it in the studio, just in case.

For my money, @JayTee has to get the award for have=ing the neatest cleanest garage I have ever seen. He posted a picture over the weekend of his new mount. The garage looked like it just had his car and scope, nothing else. Respect JT, you're a better man than I! I have managed to keep my shed tidy enough that my DMAX truck can always park inside and my large ride on mower which cost as much as a Takahashi refractor but glancing around, it's not up tp JT's standard.

Most days, one end of my dining table constantly has two cameras one fitted with a 300mm telephoto & the other with a 90mm macro plus, standard and wide angle lenses sitting there at the ready. So many birds or beautifully lit atmospheric scenes present themselves albeit fleetingly. Weather and lighting can also be fleeting. When I kept the cameras in their bag in the hall closet I was constantly missing shots.

Cheers

Joe

Heavy rain, thunderstorms, and high winds the last 15 hours now. Tree down around the corner from me. That was a little surprising since it was a relatively young, healthy looking tree. Some older ones that obstruct my view of the sky are still standing. :Boo:

Supposed to be 15-foot waves on the lake today, so maybe I'll walk down at lunch just to see.

Rained 8" here in the last 48 hours. My garage is partially flooded. Due to the BAM Cyclone, the weather service called it, the fire season is now officially over.

15 footers on Lake Michigan is pretty rare. I expect family will be posting pics from the Michigan lighthouses today.

Rain and thunder last night.
Rainfall for the last 24 hours : 2.3"

The question is: did you get any surfing in?

Today +8°C (46.5°F) and all the snow melted. It's raining now.
4 years ago it looked different (Oct 26th 2017).

;) Meechigan is pretty cold by this time of year. I have seen people in wetsuits surfing in Sheboygan, Wisconsin though.

Actually, no. The ground is not that fine stuff - except, maybe a meter or more below.
But the small creek in the back yard is running like heck.

Yesterday I took down my rain gauge to prevent freeze damage. I only measure our rainfall during the growing season, May-October with a few exceptions.
For 2021 we received 25.3"

Typical fall weather conditions now with frequent, fast moving weather systems and big temperature swings from week to week.
