The king is dead, long live the king!

It was a sad day for me yesterday. I sold my ES 127CF APO triplet.

It was in my stables for three years. It was a beautiful scope to look at and pleasure to use it. We had a lot of fun together, mostly splitting doubles. It delivered the sharpest and rich in color stars, and even grey velvet of my home light polluted sky looked refined in it.

However, my developing astronomy interests taking me to a different direction. It was time to pass it to someone else to cherish. I am sure the new owner will love it like I did.

The funds form sale went to a new scope. It should arrive tomorrow. I can hardly wait, a happy day!

I used it only for visual, but yes, it does. Selling it was interesting experience since I communicated to quite a few people in the process. One guy who is a professional photographer loved the combination of optic quality and light weight for AP.

That's what I meant for images. Should have said "views". I observe only visually, as well. :)

I will be curious to see what your get Andrey. And if the scope went to a good home, that's a good outcome.

Andrey, I can't believe that, wow. I was so curious to see what you got... Hoping it's covered under warranty/insurance.

My heart goes out to you; wish there was something I could do.

Thanks Mark! Yes, it was covered by shipping insurance and I also have PayPal buyer protection. I will get the money back, it will just take time and hassle. :)

Ironically, the scope was packed by UPS crew at the store extremely well, but then another UPS crew dropped it extremely hard. This is the only explanation.

I am also surprised how thin is the corrector plate... Well, here goes my light bucket.

Aww man, when I saw that picture I thought who on Earth would pack it in bubble wrap? I hope you can find another one. It looks like a great choice.

D'oh.

(I realized I "liked" this BEFORE I saw the broken glass - and I do not see a way to "unlike". I DO NOT LIKE THAT YOUR NEW SCOPE SHATTERED. SORRY!

This is terrible! I hate even looking at it. With that picture there's little to doubt that you will be able to reclaim your money from eBay.
I'm VERY sorry to see that this happened, and I'm also sorry for the hassle and waiting that you'll probably have on top of this to assure you get your money back.

I hope your next purchase is completely hassle free.

Don't you hate when that happens?

My upgrade from the previous ES CF 127mm triplet was to a ES CF 152mm triplet with a Feathertouch. Both scopes performe(d) exceptionally. While both of my Edge SCT scopes perform very well, they cannot match the pinpoint stars, star color or contrast the 152 provides.

I hope you get the situation corrected quickly. I hate to tell you this but, you will miss the 127mm...

Thanks everyone for the support! It was bubble wrap, but a lot of it. 10 layers. The box is gigantic. I don't think I would manage to pack it any better.

Anyway, I will likely wait for a used one to surface locally, within a driving distance.
