Another from Meteor Crater. This was 25 images taken on a full frame Sony with a 50mm lens, merged in Photoshop, and color adjusted mostly with the Camera raw filter. The final image printed at 300 dpi would print to 10 feet by 3 feet! I love panoramas!

What scale?
Dunno what the scale is, 1/10 or 1/12 at a guess.

Odd sand formations on the beach after the storms.
Notice how high the sand is, almost covering a split rail fence.

A Sparrow Hawk landed in our back garden today. I don't think the Dove saw him coming!

They are amazing to watch. We have a pair frequent our garden. The smaller male usually takes the sparrows and the larger female the doves. We have seen it being mobbed by a large mixed flock of jackdaws and rooks. Which was noisy!

So cool. I was struggling to read the scale till I picked out the fence. At first I thought it was huge landscape features like bluffs and canyons.

.
Sad news today that the wonderful Narran Lake nature reserve in NW NSW, Australia has bushfires burning. The lake beds are nesting grounds for tens of thousands of waterbirds, ibis, spoonbill, pelican, egrets and many more. The lake is not permanent, rather a large wetland that only fills when flood waters come down the Narran River from rains in Queensland. The birds follow the flood waters down until they reach these breeding grounds.
This photo taken on a no fires visit in 2008 of a dry claypan with large storm brewing at sunset. Narran Lake itself was about 13km from where we parked the 4wd and we were on our way walking back from the lake to my 4wd parked outside the reserve. We spent much more time at the lake than we'd expected. We saw the storm forming but were not carrying flashlights and were worried that we'd get lost in the dark. So we had this one brief 2 mins stop, to shoot the storm over this claypan at the halfway mark. We got back to my dark grey 4wd at the very end of twilight and could barely see it in the dark even when we were only metres from it. After that experience, I now make a point to always carry a small flashlight in my camera bag and some spare batteries.
