As I mentioned at the other site, the LX85 seems to be an updated LXD-75 which even with its quirks was a good workhorse mount overall.
The payload capacity as with Celestron, Skywatcher and Orion is a little bit optimistic as usual.
I noticed that Meade has the refractor/ mount packaged together, would this not be more economical to purchase together or were you looking at an ED/ apochromat refractor later?

All agree it is a good direct competitor to Celestron AVX at a slightly cheaper price.
