New Image: April 22, 2024 Solar Ha Full Disk
I attempted a bit of an animation around AR3644 but could tell the seeing was going from fair to bad real quick. This animation covers 22 minutes before I pulled the plug.
Scopes: Celestron EdgeHD14", Explore Scientific ED152CF & ED127 APO's, StellarVue SV70T, Classic Orange-Tube C-8, Lunt 80mm Ha double-stack solar scope.
Mounts: Astro-Physics Mach One, iOptron CEM70EC Mount, iOptron ZEQ25 Mount.
Cameras: ZWO ASI2600mm Pro, ZWO 2600MC Pro, ZWO ASI1600mm
Filters: 36mm Chroma LRGB & 3nm Ha, OIII, SII, L-Pro, L-eXtreme
Eyepieces: 27mm TeleVue Panoptic, 4mm TeleVue Radian, Explore Scientific 82° 30mm, 6.7mm , Baader 13mm Hyperion, Explore Scientific 70° 10mm, 15mm, 20mm, Meade 8.8mm UWA

I was shooting 20 second 16bit SER files with a 10 second pause between clips, but the ROI was very small, only 700x500 pixels, so the individual clips were about 800MB. About 40 images total.
I don't keep the raw data after I process it but I think it was about 50GB total including the data captured for the full disk shot. I literally trash everything except the final image when I'm finished processing it unless there's something I see that might require some extra work, like a potential flare. I run a 2TB external SSD drive for the captures.

BTW, thanks for the advice on "less can be better"; I'm finding 10-50 frames instead of 2-300 out of 2000 a big improvement!

W/L - C80-HD with Baader 5.0 & 3.8 Solar film, Solar Continuum 7.5nm and UV/IR filters with a Canon EOS 550D.
