Great Day Sky Searchers !

AR13590 is Huuuge!

My session began at 11am and in an attempt to get 3590 barlowed x 3 and I hung in there til 130pm but no cigar...

Its an awesome day out there at 50° F with little wind and though the cloulds were almost nonstop the seeing was surprisingly good inbetween them, 4,/5 at least...

Another go at the homebrew Ca H filter, a little restacking the filter elements has indeed improved the details captured, was down to 3.5ms today and the onscreen views were fantastic almost eaa level...so happy with that.

Shot from the Solar Kitchens south facing open window again, soon I will be back in my garobsy maybe a couple weeks yet as the weather continues to improve.

I will spare all of you the AR left to right rundown today 😄 as We all know who the new Star of the sunspot show really is...

Best of Luck out there Everyone!

Just want to take some time to say Thankyou to Everyone here at TSS! To those who have supported me and or my crazy none conforming un standard solar imaging and in all its many renditions...

Only a few months back I bought 65 US dollars worth of filters hoping to stack them for calcium H, this wound up being my best filter stack so far with zero parasitic light ingress and a nice narrow bandpass. Really the best yet in my humble opinion as I noway could afford a commercial filter of this quality.

Cool to see my imaginations come to fruition successfully, each filter stack is a sort of calculated gamble I take and so far they have all been cheap as chips or under 65 bucks and have provided normally unseen views of the emerging chromosphere as some of these broader created bandpasses arent available commercially at all.

It is my hope to continue to develope and test new & existing solar filtering ideas and methods throughout the coming year...

And share my results here,

This 2024 Solar imaging season brings so many wonderful and interesting visual experiences, I look forward to all of those and more this coming season and wish all of you the best of Luck on April 8th and beyond 🌞
