Post by Astro TUFF TRUK Ltd. »

Hello everyone, the Astro TUFF TRUK team here. We left a brief insight into our business in the introduction section however we wanted to showcase our products so you can see what we’re all about. We are the market leaders in quality, payload and mounting options for telescope transport systems. We have a number of different models which I will post below, all of which are fully customisable.

We have been trading for around 2 years and have received fantastic reviews from customers and also in our review by Astronomy Now Magazine. We have just started shipping to the USA owing to a redesign of our TRUKS which has made international shipping more viable. Anyway, on to the models. Please see below:

Excellent looking gear. They look very well made and stable. I especially like the accessories/ battery box on the EQ mount truck.

The rocker box of my 18” dob is a close fit through a standard door. Mine has removable wheelbarrow style 13” wheels that sit in front of and inside the width of the rocker box. Due to the large population of birds snakes mice rats spiders and insects that have free access in the shed of my dark sky property, and an abundance of dust and pollen that settles over everything, all telescopes need to live indoors.

These trucks presumably are too wide for indoor access and designed only for garage door access so none of these would work for my strange situation but congratulations on a well designed and made range of products.

Hi Joe, many thanks for the great moments, its greatly appreciated. While we do have some generic standard sizes at ATT, we do cater for all things bespoke too, so as you can see in the pictures of my 16" SW Flextube dob, if the base can go through your door then we can make the TRUK also fit through, i even added bumper bars to protect my dob base and then
stuck some Teflon sheets to the door frame so i can squeeze through and slide past the frame if im off angle a little.

Clear skies Joe,
Lee and Matt.

Hi all.
Just a couple of new additions to our ever-growing line up of products.
We now have a new index pin system for our handles, making them a super quick release and push in fitment.
We also now 3D print our own spreader pads for soft ground, like garden lawns. These 125x10mm 100% fill printed
discs also glow in the dark for ease of location.
Feel free to have a look over on the website and get in touch for any help or requirement.
Clear skies,
Lee & Matt.

Here's mine that Lee and Matt delivered last Sunday.
It is the Rolls Royce of portable astro piers and now I have just to wait for a cloudless night. I can now wheel it to any of the spots in the gardens to get targets I haven’t done before,
TuffTruk1.jpeg

Here’s me with the William Optics 103 rig fitted to it in conjunction with an Altair Astro Pier Adapter (the shiny silver bit). The grey box contains all the electronics and the whole lot is permanently wired up to the scopes/mount and I can easily quickly change to one of the other scopes I have.
At the moment I have the Skywatcher Pier Extension fitted but will be removing it soon as I only do AP so don't need the height. Previously I was using a tripod and wanted to ensure that the back of the scope didn't clout the legs.
The pier TrUK doesn't have that issue as it is a pier...!!
The center of gravity with the extension pier fitted is a tad high and not as per Lee and Matts design.
