This nightscape isn't much different than an earlier one BUT . . .

Post by jrkirkham »

. . . BUT a slight difference can change the whole atmosphere of a picture. Around the first of July I did a Milky Way picture from my dark sky site. I framed the tree near the center of the picture and highlighted that colors that were given off by two sets of bright lights in the distance. One side of the picture had cooler blues and the other had warmer tones.

Now, a month later, I moved the tree to the left, blocked out the brighter lights in the distance, and highlighted the teacup and scorpion. I posted this picture on my Facebook site to help friends learn those two constellations in the summer sky that might be new to them. There isn't much new to look at in this picture.

Hi Rob. I really like the composition of this second nightscape image. Again, you have nice contrast, the Milky Way, excellent foreground features and now the Teacup in this capture. Thanks for sharing this with us Rob and I always enjoy your work.

Very nice shot. Thanks for posting.

Playing mind games with me seeing the scorpion in such an unfamiliar orientation to the horizon.

Well, yeah, the change makes a big difference. I like it a lot. Subtle feature is the bend in the road that curves into the place where the Milky Way joins the horizon.
