I have just bought a pair of the Celestron 15x70s (from Amazon of course, just in case!), and they merge perfectly. PerhapsI’ve just been lucky.Thefatkitty wrote: ↑Wed Jun 19, 2019 5:06 am Hey Abb, sorry to hear about your bino's. I've bought a few Celestron bino's over the years, but with the exception of my 8X50's, I've returned them all. Mostly the 15X70 and two out of three 8X50's. I have a set of 8X23 Bushnell's that I bought way back in '92. The sticker says "Optics made in Japan, assembled in China". Jupiter, Saturn, the Moon, bright DSO's....27 years later, I still judge the optical quality of any bino's I buy to these.
I second Ozman, I'm looking at some Oberworks as well. Seems the only thing that might match the optical quality I want!
Hope it works out and all the best,
Not Good

Re: Not Good
Good point. But my view is that as I have bought them new, why should I have to make them work?

Re: Not Good
Because they really are dirt cheap and adding labor to collimate is expensive. I would much rather have it this way.Historyman wrote: ↑Sun Aug 18, 2019 3:18 pmGood point. But my view is that as I have bought them new, why should I have to make them work?

Based on my experience with two pair of Skymasters I bought from AMZ (first pair arrived broken), I'd say that you were.
I think the prevailing opinion is that they're not all junk, but QC at Celestron is poor and you take a gamble ordering them.
I was able to collimate mine pretty well, but they slipped out again and this time I think they're FUBAR, so they're sitting in the basement while I debate getting a pair of Obie LWs, which are pretty much the same bino but with supposedly excellent QC.
Man... That's some icky-tasting stuff!
