Need Help With Buying Another Counter Weight

#1

Post by Refractordude »

I like Orion, but this much for a counter weight is kinda high. I just wont pay that price for a piece of metal. Any suggestions/alternatives?

I use these counterweights on my AVX mount. Assuming the counterweight shaft diameter is 3/4 of an inch these will work fine. They come in 6 lb and 3 lb.

I could use the weights that I have, but then I would be restricted to just the red dot finder with 1.25" diagonal. I may just have to do that. A counter weight that is 20 percent the cost of the mount with tripod, well I just cant do that. Thanks JayTee

Cast iron weights work well and come in sizes of 1kg and up. The counterweight shaft on most chinese made EQ-5 sized mounts is 20mm so you would have to fill part of the center hole for them to not move around.

Thanks
I have an extra one :)
You can have it free :)

I no longer do the EQ thing, sold my SVP, several years ago and couldn't locate the spare weight.

I'll PM you :)

There's always a few sheets of roofing lead cut to size and bolted together:
