May 3rd 2024 Calcium K / Good Seeing !

Great Day My Fellow Sky Searchers !

Some steady skies with 4/5 seeing and excellent transparency,

provided an exciting start to a very busy session beginning at 740am and trying some new Ir Uv Cut filters on H beta and Magnesium but with the early seeing the star of the show was certainly quickly becoming the Calcium K, so I drizzed it up for zooming in a bit and spent a little extra time in post zooming in a bit too...

Was a beautiful day and warm so aclimation was a breeze as I just set the solar kitchen exaust vent on low to gently pull the outside air in past the scope, seems to work rather well...

Wowing me today again all the wonderful images here in the Solar Corner and through out TSS, thanking Indeed All of You for making all the great armchair observations possible and Have an Awesome Weekend Everyone !

Static / 70x420mm / Solar Wedge / IMX385-Colour / Homebrewed Calcium K

Hey Aaron, another great set of images.
I'm curious about your start time of 7:40am. That puts the Sun at about 20° above your local horizon if my calculations are correct. Is that a normal starting time for you, so early. I generally do not image before 9am local time these days which puts the Sun a bit higher, around 40° above the horizon. I know there is a trade-off between altitude vs early morning seeing conditions being better before the surroundings warm up and get turbulent. I was just wondering if this is normal for you or do you normally shoot a bit later in the morning?

Thanks indeed Greg,

Usually a bit later but I shoot out a window and with the solar arc changing daily over the east woodline, the changing landscape is also involved and soon the leaves on the trees themselves will dictate my session times,

Through winter I was working the south facing window, now with the ever increasing altitude of Sol my session times will get shorter and shorter as the Sun clears the treetops in the east and then quickly goes behind my houses roof overhang.

Then I'll be lucky to sneak a peek and catch a disc and the longer sessions will be over for a time with seasonal weather fluctuations having the final say.

This disc was shot through the tree limbs so a bit early, I watch the sun rise through the trees on my dell and in the eyepiece most mornings that its clear...Really is a sight to behold.

Because of my disability, assistance is required for anything outside or in my garage were my main scope setup is so most of whats going now is the solar kitchen stuff...
