Is this what I have to look forward to now?

I've only had one clear night since I got my scope, which doesn't surprise me, what does surprise me is that pretty much everyday has been a beautiful sunny day until the evening when the clouds appear.

Take yesterday for example, 27ºC, clear skies all day, I even sunburnt my back on the beach, I take my scope to the balcony door in preparation to finally try and see Saturn or Jupiter (I've only seen the moon so far) and CLOUDY, and today, cloudy in the morning, sunny in the afternoon, and cloudy again.

Maybe the weather has always been like this, I've just never noticed

I know what your feeling. Bought a new camera, only had four chances to use it in 6 weeks. Just brought home a small observatory, had to build a new floor the day after I got it home. You guessed it, raining cats and dogs since! The ole farmer in me appreciates the rain but.....

Yep, I’ve noticed that, I suppose cloud does bubble up when the temperature drops, in humid environs even worse.

Yeah, I finally gave up and now am building my library of moon images - I plan on trying to get each % from 0 to full and back to 0%.

It all depends on how vindictive the local cloud deities are towards optics.

It does seem cloudy skies are way more common than clear skies, over the country in general. It is absolutely that way in chicago. Last really clear day was many weeks ago.

There’s a corollary - clouds and / or rain are predicted all night so you don’t bother to set up. You happen to wake up in the middle of the night, look outside, and it’s crystal clear with no moon.

Yes, but if you want to image something it’s doubly depressing as by the time you are setup... You know the rest.

LOL. With daylight savings time in full swing here, by the time I'm semi-conscious in the early morning, astro twilight is well underway. By Odin's beard I hate DST.
