Astrocartics Lab - Maps for Spacefarers

Hello,

I create and sell 3D star maps of the nearest star systems.

The one below is my newest one. It uses a dimetric style projection to show the 3D relations
of the stars within 5 parsecs.

The chart also has graphics of the star systems that show details of their known planets.

It is $19.95 ...

Re: Have you seen these

I have the Menzel one copyrighted 1964 but it is a Peterson Guide and not Audubon. It is a very useful guide. I am making a solar system poster map and the diagrams of the planet orbits in it will be very useful.

I also have the Skywatching one. It may be of news to you that there is an Advanced ...

Re: Oberwerk 8x56 LWs?

I have the Oberwerk 11x70 which have apparently been discontinued. They are somewhat heavy but if I place my hands at the front end I can steady them. However, I also have to deal with the "kidney bean" effect with them.

Re: What is a planet?

There is also the issue of what do you call small spherical bodies like Pluto if they are not planets. Right now it is called a Dwarf Planet. But doesn't that mean that it is still a planet even though it is a special kind?

Could you use the word Planetoid? I remember Sir Patrick Moore was on the ...

Re: The Mark 1 eyeball

Living in the suburbs doesn't allow for good naked eye astronomy. However a couple years ago I had to get cataracts taken out and replaced with new lenses. My new sight is 20/20 or better. I can't see more stars than before when I had my glasses but the ones I see now are more in focus. I guess you ...

Re: RIP - Wil Tirion

As someone who also makes star charts I feel a bit of kinship with Will Tirion. Star maps are like other cartographical maps - they are a mix of science and art. They have to bring some artistic expression to the astronomical data. But while other map makers are limited to a single planet, Will ...

Hi from Louisiana

Hello All

Being from the suburbs of a city (8 miles south of New Orleans) doesn't allow good convenient viewing. Also I don't have good equipment. However, I have always enjoyed things involving space and looking at the stars on a clear night with whatever I have. I guess that makes me mostly an ...
